Thomas Kvan, founding director of AURIN, a national digital infrastructure to support urban research, and Professor of Architecture at the University of Melbourne, argues that architects have already lost ground to data scientists in this respect. The architectural profession and its education system must embrace urban data analysis as input for urban and building design of the future.
